As far as guns, the US is somewhere middle-ish in regards violent crime. The UK is worse, even Norway and Denmark have orders of magnitude more crime than the US.
You forgot to mention Sweden, really good reason why the recent shift in these countries.

i remember the moment the first real crack in my faith happened as a jehovah's witness.
i was sitting in the kingdom hall during the watchtower study where, as is common, the article was talking about how the israelites as a nation abandoned jehovah.. "but wait," i thought, "having a nation represent him here on earth was part of his plan.

there must be something magic about that place, the Soviet Union, which was toughened up by winning a real big nasty war, had the same fate there.
No nothing magic at all, just a people that are driven by a giant meat grinder disguised as a religion, that knows no limit on human consumption. i often drive past a kingdom hall in barrington, illinois, where, when i was still a witness, i had visited a few times.
it wasn't too far from the hall i attended and we got to know people from this congregation.. i recently passed it by and it appeared there was a new sign in place.
yesterday i decided to pull into the parking lot on my way home, and it appears that the hall has been sold and is now occupied by seventh day adventists (i did a check online when i got home).
In the last days the mountain of the house of Jehovah will be lifted up... bla bla.. Yeah, right.

i live with my parents in law and yesterday, my mother in-law was very nervous about an email she got from the brothers in her congregation.
it was asking if she would be able to receive people over at our house should there be a catastrophe.
